On the 18th of July, Ubisoft announced its upcoming open-world mobile RPG, Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, to be released in closed beta worldwide. The first closed beta testing for Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade is scheduled to start on the 3rd of August 2023. However, following the government policy on Tencent Games, Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade may not release in India.
As the government of India banned Tencent Games, the company’s subsidiary Level Infinite may not be able to bring the game into the hands of Indian gamers. Level Infinite is in charge of publishing Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade. In Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade official discord server, one of the members asked if someone is from India then whether they are going to get the invitation or not.
Paula, one of the moderators in Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade official discord server, has replied that invitees from India should be able to download and play the closed beta as the game did not restrict any country. In the closed beta announcement, the game said it will accept players from all over the world. But since the Indian government has a history with Tencent Games, Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade may not release in India
Undawn is available in India despite being published by Level Infinite
Tencent Games is the global publisher of PUBG Mobile while Krafton and VNG Games are in charge of India, Korea, and Vietnam respectively. The government of India banned Tencent Games over security concerns. However, its subsidiary Level Infinite is still running business in India, at least a few titles are available.
LightSpeed Studios’ open-world survival RPG, Undawn, is also published by Level Infinite. But the game is available to play in India. So, there’s a higher possibility that Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade will be playable from the country. The upcoming mobile title from Ubisoft has generated much hype and expectations, following the legacy it created from its first release in 2007.
The first mobile version of any Assassin’s Creed title came out one year later in 2008 with Assassin’s Creed: AltaĂŻr’s Chronicles. Developed by Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade is an open-world title set in third-century BCE China and takes place between the events of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Origins.
