Genshin Impact Version 4.2 Phase 1 banners will go live after the server maintenance on the 8th of November, 2023, and will last till the 28th of November, 2023 at 17:59 server time. The Version 4.2 Phase 1 banners will feature one new 5* character, one new 5* weapon, and one new 4* character.
Genshin Impact Version 4.2 Phase 1 first character banner: Chanson of Many Waters
This banner features the debut of the event-exclusive 5* character “Endless Solo of Solitude” Furina (hydro/sword). As the Hydro Archon, she is expected to be a top-tier support character.
Furina will be accompanied by the 4* characters “Lens of Verity” Charlotte (cryo/catalyst), “Sprout of Rebirth” Collei (dendro/bow), and “Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean” Beidou (electro/claymore), who will receive a huge drop-rate boost.
Among these 4* characters, “Sprout of Rebirth” Collei (dendro/bow), and “Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean” Beidou (electro/claymore) are also permanently available in the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation without any boosted drop rates. Charlotte is a new 4* character and will be available in the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation from version 4.3 onwards.

This banner features the first rerun of the event-exclusive 5* character “Beyond Mortality” Baizhu (dendro/catalyst) since his release in Version 3.6.
Baizhu will be accompanied by the 4* characters “Lens of Verity” Charlotte (cryo/catalyst), “Sprout of Rebirth” Collei (dendro/bow), and “Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean” Beidou (electro/claymore), who will receive a huge drop-rate boost.

This banner introduces the new 5* weapon Splendor of Tranquil Waters (sword) which is the signature best-in-slot weapon for Furina. This banner also features the rerun of Jadefall’s Splendor (catalyst), which is the signature weapon for Baizhu.
This banner also features the event-exclusive 4* weapons Sacrificial Sword (sword), The Bell (claymore), Dragon’s Bane (polearm), Sacrificial Fragments (catalyst), and The Stringless (bow), all of them will receive a huge drop-rate boost.
All of these 4* weapons are also permanently available in the Standard Wish – Wanderlust Invocation without any boosted drop rates.
Final Thoughts
The spotlight will be on Furina, as she is the long-awaited Hydro Archon. She has the potential to be one of the best characters of all time. Baizhu, on the other hand, is a rather niche character. Everyone has access to Yao Yao (she is obtainable for free during the annual Lantern Rite event) therefore the need to pull for him is lower. He does have a pretty great synergy with Nilou and Alhaitham. Generally speaking, Baizhu’s pull value is lower than Furina’s.
Among the 4* characters, Charlotte is a new character so her potential is yet to be discovered. Collei is a decent Dendro applier but competes with Dendro Traveller and Nahida for the same role. Beidou is a pretty good DPS for a 4*, and she works really well with a Taser team.
As for the weapons, both of the 5* weapons work extremely well with the 5* characters they are meant to be equipped with. However, Jadefall’s Splendor is not very useful to anyone other than Baizhu, so it is unwise to pull for it. All of the 4* weapons excluding The Bell are useful.
