CAPE TOWN: Opening batter Jordan Hermann scored his maiden T20 century and carried the bat through the innings to help Sunrisers Eastern Cape edge MI Cape Town in a last-over thriller during the eighth SA20 match at Newlands.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s skipper Aiden Markram opted to bat first and his opening batters proved the decision right with a fiery partnership.
Hermann and Dawid Malan raised 138 partnerships for the first wicket in 13 overs, however, opposing captain Kieron Pollard broke the stand on the first ball of the next over.
Malan got caught and bowled on a slow delivery after playing a quick 53-run knock from 37 balls, featuring four boundaries and three sixes.
Markram joined Hermann but fell prey to Pollard after scoring 19 off 13 with 165 runs on the board.
